Who-fi (Social Media)
Tech News: Wi-Fi technology has taken a major leap with the introduction of a new system called Who-Fi — and it’s already raising serious privacy concerns. This breakthrough technology can track anyone with remarkable precision. Imagine changing clothes in your room or engaging in a private activity — Who-Fi can monitor every movement without needing a camera.
Although this technology is not yet available for public use, research papers reveal that it can turn ordinary Wi-Fi signals into a biometric scanner. It’s capable of not only detecting someone’s movement but also verifying biometric identity.
Who-Fi is a revolutionary system that uses Wi-Fi signals — without the need for cameras — to track people. It relies heavily on AI (Artificial Intelligence) to function. Reports say the system uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signals. It reads ‘channel state information’ with the help of a transformer-based neural network, which helps analyze the strength of Wi-Fi signals and detect changes in their path.
In simple terms, it spreads a web of Wi-Fi signals across a room. When a person moves or performs an activity, Who-Fi detects those disruptions and tracks the movements accurately.
One of the most striking aspects of Who-Fi is that it is virtually undetectable. Devices that are designed to find surveillance equipment cannot pick up Who-Fi. This system functions by turning regular Wi-Fi signals into a powerful surveillance tool— and that’s why it’s creating growing fears about privacy across the globe. Experts warn that while Who-Fi has potential uses in security, healthcare, and smart home systems, it also poses serious ethical and privacy challenges. If misused, it could enable constant surveillance without consent, making it harder for people to maintain personal boundaries. Tech analysts believe governments and regulators will need to set strict guidelines before the technology becomes mainstream.
